About the Class
- Sashiko is a very old form of hand sewing using a simple running stitch, sewn in repeating or interlocking patterns through one or more layers of fabric. It is important to keep the stitches as even in length and as regular as possible.
- The objective of this class is to get familiar with Sashiko. Through reading materials we will learn what Sashiko is. To practice Sashiko stitching, a material we are using in the class has a traditional Sashiko pattern pre-transferred onto the fabric in the form of a stencil. Some Sashiko patterns are also provided at the class.
